Denis Marier, ND, MA

Dennis.jpgDr. Marier is known for his ability to connect with patients and navigate health concerns and trauma with compassion and skill.  Throughout his almost twenty years of practice he has come to realize that addressing the root cause of disease includes a deep and thorough look at any psycho-spiritual adverse events of a person’s history, including inter-generational factors, as well as life traumas and stressors.  He helps patients find healing through gentle therapies, education and support, and their connection to nature.

Dr Denis Marier brings a wealth of international experience through his medical relief work and wilderness therapies to his work with patients. He also has a master’s degree in Ecopsychology, which looks at how our interaction with the natural world informs our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. As a wilderness therapy guide he helps people mark life transitions with ceremony, community and nature.

Dr Marier has been an associate professor and clinical supervisor at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto. As a medical relief volunteer, he has participated in several natural disaster relief efforts; his efforts include the Gujerat earthquake of 2001, rural Tibet in 2004, post-tsunami Sri Lanka in 2005, rural South Africa in 2007, and post-earthquake Haiti in February 2010.  He has received an Ontario Spirit Award from the Government of Canada for his medical relief efforts, and has twice been nominated for the Dr. Rogers Prize for Excellence in Complementary and Alternative Medicine.

Dr. Marier draws upon his connection to his Métis heritage incorporating philosophy and ceremony into individual healing protocols.  As a Reiki Master, he brings subtle energetic work combined with sound to assist with healing at the energetic level.
